Hey guys,
Another post had me debating comps. So, I thought I'd head home and run a shootout to have a listen. I imported a song from Norah Jones at full res(16bit/44.1) and cut out a section to test. I tested each limiter with a ceiling of 0db and a threshold of... -6db (first link)... giving me around a 3db gain reduction average. -10db (second link)... giving me around a 7-9db gain reduction average. I used in this order Waves L1 Waves L2 Waves L3LL Ultra Massey L2007 Digidesign Maxim They were all RTAS plugs (bounced real time) on the multi-channel setting. The file from the link below is in the order above, with the original audio first, and about 5 second gaps between each. I know this is a post forum, and the material is music, but thought it was academic at the very least. Have a listen http://nuancetone.com/LimitingTest_O...2007-Maxim.wav http://nuancetone.com/LimitingTest_N...2007-Maxim.wav -Mike
