Waves Plugin Presets renamed?

I've added some Waves Artist Presets (.xps) and chose to store the folder in Library/App Supp/Digidesign/Plug-in Settings/Waves Artist Presets. The presets now have all had a .tfx extension added to them, so no longer work as Waves presets. Is this somethine Protools automatically added? Did I pick a bad place to store the Presets folder???
