Default Need a tax write-off?/seeking sugar daddy(ies)!

Hi. I teach a music technology class at a HS in California, and we are using Pro Tools 7.4. As you know, things aren't going so well economically, particularly in California. School budgets are being slashed and you can imagine how high a priority a music technology class is. I am looking for any individuals who would be willing to donate money for the purpose of upgrading to PT8. We have seventeen stations needing upgrades. Total cost is about $1300. Anyone wishing to help can contact me by PM to get info and verification of the school I teach at.

Thanks for your consideration.

I'm assuming you've already contacted the students parents, sold cookies, washed cars, had a fundraising concert...and all the other stuff we've been doing for years to fund 'good causes' for our kids?

Maybe corporate sponsorship.....these are all avenues you should exhaust before asking strangers for money....even if they are protools strangers

Yes, we have explored fundraising, and I will continue to do so. I am open to any and all possibilities, which is why I posted here. I'm not asking for myself, but for the students. We have a music booster group but those parents are generally parents of band and orchestra students, and their money is being spent on keeping those programs afloat.

As I said, thanks for your consideration. I figure there is no harm in asking for help. Sorry if anyone was offended.

No offence taken Dave, just thought I'd throw that out there. As a parent ,I spent years fundraising for my kids activities...school trips, hockey, guides and scouts etc. It actually got to be a PITA....it was sometimes easier and less time-consuming to just fork over the cash

Good luck.....and the bottom-line is even if you can't upgrade to v 8 , the kids can still get some great experience and learn how to use protools on 7.4

Yes, they seem to be enjoying the PT experience on 7.4 just fine. The only real reason that I want to update is for the integration with Sibelius, which we learned earlier in the year.
