Default auditioning sounds in the bin takes me back to start??

Every time I audition sounds in the bin by going OPTION/CLICK on the AIFF file, the timeline for some irrational reason loses my timeline position and sends me back to start -- timecode "zero". How can I alleviate this insanity just because I wanted to audition a sound?

thx

J
