Default Is 1024 the highest buffer setting in 7.4 LE?

Twice in the last weeks I've been on systems that belonged to friends, and noticed something odd.
As an M-Powered user, I'm used to seeing 2048 as an option for playback buffer.
But both of my friends (who, coincendentally, both have 002 racks) have similar setups but were only able to go up to 1024.

What gives? Is this the result of LE giving you 64 samples at the lowest setting while M-Powered gives you 128?

Just curious. One of my friends was using a G4 tower, so I was thinking the 2048 might have come in really handy during the editing phase. It seemed to be running ok at 1024, but 2048 would have been even better.

on 002/003 if u record to 96k then it goes to 2048; otherwise 1024 is where it maxes @ & that should be enuff if ur rig is stable...on the Mbox it goes to 2048 on either sample rate..

I have my mbox 2 mini with me over christmas holiday while I am traveling and I also realized the same thing. My buffer goes to 2048 at the highest and 128 at the lowest.

Running MBP 2.4Ghz(Santa Rose) 4Gbram 10.5.5 PT LE 7.4.2

Thanks, everyone-

Ahhh... So now it seems to come into clearer focus. It would seem that the firewire interfaces (mBox Pro, 002/003) work from 64 to 1024 because of their increased stability, while the USB units go from 128-2048.

Makes perfect sense-

Th M-Audio variants are just simply set at 128-2048, as I've had several M-Audio interfaces & this was always the case.
