Default really really confused...

o.k don't laugh, but i would like to download a newer version to p.t le. i am using 6.2.2 with my 002r. i realise now that there are other versions for le. such as 6.4, 6.7. amongst others.
what are the differences?? are they just newer versions from version 6 thru 6.7?? or they only can be used on certain platforms?
also , i am using an i-book g4 osx10. 3..
whats the best update for pro tools le, to use on my operating system.?? also i was thinking about updateing my operating system as well. i understand that i should not go any higher than 10.5 or my system will run too slow. whats the best os to use in my case.
please inform me as best u can as what i should do.

jamaicadave,
Yes..there are different versions under 6.xx, that are independently supported by different Mac versions.
I'd start my search here >>

Hey, for compatibility stuff you'll want to visit http://www.digidesign.com/compato which will tell you the latest version of PT that you can get for your mac system. This link: http://www.digidesign.com/compato/osx/002rack/ will get you to the mac system section for the 002. You'll definately want to stay on the 10.3 release due to the fact that Digi has not released support for any of the other Mac systems, and it looks like the highest upgrade for your OS at the moment is PT LE 6.7.

The difference in the upgrades is the fact that usually when a company releases new software, they either fix bugs that were wrong with the software previously, or they add cool new features. To the best of my knowledge I don't think there is too much in the way of new features in 6.7 from 6.2. I could be wrong on that one..... Guys out there, help me out if I am.

I use 6.1 on XP Pro myself though and if it does the job, it does the job in my opinion and I have been working with computers for a good 13 years. Goodluck

hi jamaica, since you´re OSX,
i´ll recomend you to go OSX.3.8
and download PT 6.4 with it´s cs6 and cs9 upgrades,
OSX.3.8 not yet aproved but almost,
both of them for free,
PT 6.7 will cost you, but have it´s advantages mostly in midi.
anyway you should check the digidesign site for yourself.
good day.
