Default Use of powered computer speakers

I'm a former PT4.3LE user who has returned to the fold and upgraded to Mbox. In addition to using headphones, I would like to be able to use my current set of powered computer speakers to monitor the Mbox output, and I have some questions about this possibility.

Can I use some sort of Y-cable setup so that the computer's audio output and the Mbox's monitor outputs share the same set of speakers?

OR

Can I just have the powered speakers hooked up to the Mbox's monitor outputs (via a y-cable to get from the 2 1/4" outputs to the mini stereo plug of the speaker set), and somehow be able to route all computer audio through it?

PT6.7LE w/Mac OS X 10.3.7...

Thanks in advance...

Drew
