I don't think your digi card would burn because your overclocking, but your processor could.

Like musikman says, it overheats and then...well...burns! of course that's if you overclock it very far. Just don't get to greedy and everything will be fine.

Legal Clause: I'm not endorsing overclocking but sometimes that little bit extra makes all the difference in a session!

I HAVE EITHER THE SAME MOTHERBOARD OR A STEP DOWN AND IM RUNNING A PIII 450 PROCESSOR AND OVERDRIVING THE RAM TO MAKE IT A 517. I HAVE NOT BEEN EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS. IF I OVERCLOCK THE RAM ANY FURTHER IT USUALLY GETS THE PROCESSOR HOT OR LOCKS UP THE RAM. GOOD LUCK. ATLEAST YOU HAVE SOME HORSEPOWER TO PLAY WITH. MINE IS AT ITS END.....

Ram gets hotter, too, when you up that bus speed.

Running your PCI bus beyond spec actually can have negative effects on your Digi card.

Check this out: http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/02q1/020117/index.html

They've overclocked a P4 2.2 Ghz CPU to over 3 Ghz with a water cooled system, with very little effect on the PCI and AGP busses, and showing potential for much higher CPU speeds than even 3 Ghz. Once AMD switches over to the .13 micron standard, it's going to be scary how fast they'll be able to get these chips running. The prophesies that progressive computer power increases will eliminate the need for DSP cards and additional hardware are coming true.

If you're using an Intel CPU, you'll have to do it by increasing the front side bus, as the multiplier is locked on Intel chips. Go into the BIOS on bootup and you can alter the FSB there.

If you've got an AMD Athlon processor, you can unlock it for overclocking by unlocking the mulitplier, but to do so you need to perform some minor surgery on the CPU itself. Go to http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/0...112/index.html for instructions on this.

This is a real can 'o worms and there are many hard held opinions, on both sides, by folks much smarter than me...
I suggest that you spend a little time hanging out at www.overclockers.com before you start OC'ing. There are detailed reviews on oc'd CPU's and motherboard's along with stories of success and failure. All in all, an excellent background on a controversal subject.
Also, FWIW, I began overclocking processors that were on their way out and not really important to me.
Valuable experience.
Two best pieces of advice for overclocking:
1. Watch your temp's like a hawk.
2. Dont be greedy... go with small increments.
