PC Configuration: Allen´s Tips for Mbox?

hello all

if i buy a PC with a good configuration (like allen´s tips) do you think it will work with mbox? because i think that the audiomedia III is not compatible with athlon processors (and i think that mbox is the audiomedia´s sucessor). do you think digidesign will make mbox compatible with athlons? like the digi 001?

and the USB issues? the digi 001 don´t run well sharing the irq with usb devices. if i buy a a7v266e or a a7m266 i can use it with a mbox?

i know that no one can really know or be sure what digidesign will do, but i got to buy a new machine now and expecting that the digidesign extend the athlon support for mbox also...

Yeah the M-Box will work fine on athlons. I suggest at least a 1.2ghz processor to get the most out of it. It should work fine with other USB devices such as midi interfaces and things like that.

However its not that much more for a 001, and it will be compatable with XP when the windows version of the M-Box is released (which, acording to Digi, is soon). Unless you intend to use the M-Box with a laptop i would suggest waiting a little bit longer and save up the extra money and buy a 001. It will have better latency, more i/o and built in midi.

When i bought my AMIII i was told by Digi that though it wasn't feasible for them to approve it for every motherboard and chipset, the AMIII should work on every setup the 001 is qulified and supported on.

Lot's of people here, including me, run the AMIII on Athlons.
