'bus error" in thread "main thread" at address 0x0
Hi,
New to all of this so please be patient... Bought a second hand mac book pro, Mac OS X VERSION 10.7.4 and a secondhand mbox pro 2... with pro tools LE 8... installed everything.. start up pro tools...front page comes up as normal.. create blank session etc.. then this warning comes up and pro tools stalls.. 'BUS ERROR" IN THREAD "MAIN THREAD" AT ADDRESS 0X0 if anyone has any ideas at all i would be so appreciative.. or if you know anyone who might have an idea that would be great too... just to add i bought this for the sole purpose of recording basic music... not great with all the technical jargon.. so if you could put advice into basic layman's terms that would be fantastic... thank you in advance... |

I think you're trying to run incompatible Protools and MacOS versions.
You should put a bit of work into researching the compatibility chart on avid.com, and go thru the "General troubleshooting" thread on this section of the forum. Not shure, but you might be able to run PT 8.05 on Mac OS 10.7. Edit: No. PT8 and Lion is not comptbl.: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=304605

So lion is incompatible with the pro-tools I'm trying to use! What do you suggest I might do about that? Can I downgrade to a lower version? Thank you so much again. |

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me..!!
So what do you think my options are? Is it possible to downgrade to a lower version? What would you do if you were me? Thanks again for your help... Much appreciated. |

Re: 'bus error" in thread "main thread" at address 0x0
Quite a big thing to downgrade your OS to a lower version.
People would recommend that you buy Protools 10, but it costs. An option that I often suggest is to make a dual boot setup like I've have had myself for many years. One disk with a taylored Protools system, and one for everything else. See my signature. Many benefits: you startup the PT system to do PT stuff and it's stable and reliable. You startup with the other system when you want to do anything else, and you can upgrade it and install stuff whithout worrying about PT taking a hit. Only downside: You have to restart to switch. I can elaborate if you want. Bottom line is: upgrade PT or downgrade OS.
