Default Routing audio from CoreAudio apps to Pro Tools

I'm currently routing audio from the digital out of my Mac to the digital (adat) input of my Omni-interface.
Is there any other way of getting audio from the Mac via for example Soundflower into the PT HDX-engine?
I got a bit confused reading about Soundflower, RevoicePro and PT HD hardware:

http://www.synchroarts.com/AppSuppor...onitoring.html

From the PT manual:

"The Pro Tools Aggregate I/O Device is intended for use only with the built-in audio on your Mac computer."

The thing they don't tell you is that the digital input on the MAC is NOT supported.... unless something has recently changed. Not sure on Sundflower....

It's definitely possible with sound flower. But I think you would need to use the pro tools aggregate instead of your omni.

I don't think HD systems work with aggregate audio.

Thank you, that seems to be the case.
Hopefully in a future version...

Buy a Hosa Spdif Optical - AES convertor ($80.00) and connect your Mac optical i/o to you Avid AES convertor ports.

I did exactly this and I could not get it to work. I suspected immediately that the HOSA CDL-313 unit I purchased is defective. I assume by your suggestion Touchwood that you have successful used this in a similar application....right?

Exactly, and using the AES input instead of the optical input has the added bonus of realtime sample rate conversion. So Pro Tools and the Core Audio applications are completely independent, even their clocking.

Best
