Unhappy "access violation" error when catalog.ddb is close to 2GB...

Hello

I get "access violation" error when cataloging samples in DigiBase Pro and my database file (ddb) is around 2GB.

Is this expected behavior?

Thanks.

It would be if the code that is responsible for this file is not 64-bit. Only AVID can tell us for sure. 32-bit code can only address up to 2GB of space (memory, file size, etc.).

Thanks Chief, that makes sense.

But does the file type matters here? Because I can easily have large (over 2GB) size audio or .dmg files, for example, in a 32-bit environment on my Mac...

No, file type does not matter. What matters is the application's ability to read all of the data within said file. If the underlying code for accessing a file is only 32-bit, then it will only be able to access ~2GB of data.

The easiest solution would be if Pro Tools was able to split its database files when cataloging...
