Default Re: PT10.3.8/PT11.1.1 launch issues...

Back again! Just an update to my issues from my original post at the top here.

So, I just updated to 10.3.9 and 11.1.3.

With the update to 10.3.9, all seems good now. No weird launching of the updater app, errors, or warnings anymore.

However, still having the same issues as previous with PT11... "You don't have appropriate access privileges (1)" error happens immediately on launch when "initializing databases". It's obviously some kind of permissions issue. I feel that if I knew where PT11 was accessing this, I could probably change the permissions and it would be fine.

I've just been continuing to use PT10 to get work done since I can't really afford to spend the time (that I don't have anyway) wiping my machine and re-installing everything. It would be nice to be able to use PT11 finally though. I guess I should prob bite the bullet and contact support.

/Library/Application Support/Avid/Pro Tools

That directory, and the ones contained within, should be owned by root with a group of admin. Root, admin, and everybody should have read, write, and execute privileges.

Thanks for the reply, Chief Technician. I checked the permissions and they were read/write for all the available users (cwhite (me.. admin user), system, admin, and everyone). Still wasn't getting past the DB initialize. So, I discovered the Workspace.wksp file in /Users/shared/Pro Tools/. I moved that out to the desktop, launched PT11, and bingo. It opened.

However, it seems to be launching the SoftwareUpdater again as PT10 used to, showing the "You do not have appropriate access privileges (1)" error. I can seemingly run PT11 without issue now... but it would be nice to not have the updater problem and know that it's all working as it should.

Thanks for sharing the tip.

I haven't had issues with the Software Updater. Which version's software updater is giving you grief?

I can't believe it. I was having the same problem launching PT 11. Changing the name of my hard drive allowed PT 11 to open.

This is messed up!

Hi,

I have similar problems here:
installed PT 10HD and PT 11 HD on a fresh OSX 10.8.5,
nothing else installed
then the 2 Avid Air instrument collection bundles, and...

PT10 crashes at startup

unfortunately the licence, the Avid Support Centre sent to me,
does not work - the old 9th licence is surrendered, if you update !!!!!

No working Protools - wow

Mr.O

Could you please post the data from the crashed thread? Crash logs can be found in the Console.app (/Applications/Utilities).
