For 96kHz? Won't your Rosetta 800 work with the X-Firewire card? Or am I misunderstanding your issue?

Regarding Apogee's recently discontinued lines... an AD-16X is looking lovely right now... so sad.

The FW card is cool and seems to work well. I've had rather limited use with it thus far... I just picked up the Rosetta with the card used a few months back. I basically tested to make sure that it works. It would be much cooler if I could use it as an aggregate device with my 002R

I guess I'll have to go back and check all of my routing/configuration, or maybe re-install PT9.

Does this include the Eleven Rack?

Maybe I don't get the Aggregate thing either. I tried to use my MBP with an 1/8th cheap mic plugged into the side mic input, and use the headphone out to speakers and no dice.
Had to use the built in mic in order to use the Mac output which was lame.
Am I way off here?

You should try Digital Performer. Its closer to PT in feel than Logic, and the controller app for iPhone/iPad is free and runs really smooth.

Since too many crashes with PT9, even after totally new install of OS 10.6.4 on a practically new iMac 2.66 i5 and no other software installed it crashes. 3 days is too much time wasted, so reluctantly that's the way I'm having to go.

Not way off... But when you create the aggregate device, you have to make sure you select "Built-in Input" rather than "Built-in Microphone." They can be aggregated separately... or together. So you should be able to use both the line in, and the on-board mic at the same time.

It seemed like when I chose Built in Input, I couldn't use the Headphone Out to plug speaker in, which was the whole idea.
As far as creating the device, it was already listed. Do I have to make a separate device setup for this?

How are you creating the aggregate, exactly?

It sounds like you're only using one source at a time... (i.e. selecting it from Playback Engine), which will only allow for you to use one device at a time.

So just to confirm... you're going to Setup > Hardware... > Launch Setup App, correct?

This should open "Audio MIDI Setup."

From here, you should be able to configure "Pro Tools Aggregate I/O."

All you should have to do, is check off which devices you want to use together. Now, bear in mind, this will give each device it's own distinct routing options in Setup > I/O, so you might not see or hear everything right away until you know what paths they are using.
