Default Turbo Boost for Intel??

Am I meant to have this checked? even in tiny PT sessions, my laptop fan is going crazy with it on!

Uncheck it, won't hurt anything. On my intel Mac I leave it off unless I'm doing a lot of bouncing. That's the only time I can tell any difference. The rest of the time it's off and the fan stays at a normal rpm.

If you lose a few MHz off your GHz of processing frequency, but there is enough time to get the calculations of your (potentially) 48 kHz audio at 32 bit crunched, you don't need boost to constantly running everything faster than needs to be to get playback steady.

With Boost On, every process might run fast, causing fan to run but potentially not affecting audio output, or necessary to keep up with audio. As mentioned smurfyou sees no performance hit unless bouncing. Then running full speed might be OK. Gets it done. Generally the fan running is not unsafe to be sure.

Try it both ways & see what works best for you. But do check all AVID optimizations, and also, check all AVID troubleshooting steps here: https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/ar...oting/en367983
