Default MS plug-in alternative?

Hi,

are there any MS plug-in alternatives to Waves imager or MS matrix?

I do know how to set up an MS-matrix without plug-ins but that´s not what I´m looking for.

thanks,

frank.

So I guess waves is the only company that makes an MS matrix plug?

I can´t believe that such a simple plug-in is so expensive (waves).

I´m trying to avoid waves but I guess there are some type of plugs only waves makes.

Frank.

probably not much help, but there is a MSdecoder plug-in that is part of Digital Performer. And you might get the whole of that package for less than a waves plug!

just checked and they are in motu's own MAS format, so you probably won't be able to use it in a PT environment....but if you have DP...

also, you might want to check out ... arboretum , as their hyperprism software has an MS Matrix plug-in.

I would like to see another MS Matrix plug too. Even if I felt good about using Waves products, their MS plug isn't everything I want.

There's a company that creates VSTs for Windows called Voxengo . These guys are truly the Waves alternatives on that front (and a heck of a lot cheaper). Great sounding stuff too. Unfortunately, again, they only create VSTs for Windows ..... but here's their MS Encoder/Decoder:

Cheers,

All you need is any plugin with a phase invert switch (such as 1 Band EQ) to decode a MS signal. Duplicate the track with the side signal and flip that copy out of phase. Find the balance between the two copies that cauces the most phase cancelation. From there balance the sides against the Mid track and pan the sides out to taste.
Same way you would do it on a real console.
More control this way to.

You owe me 300 dollars:)
