That's the way to do it. I've ran OS9, Panther and now Tiger on seperate partitions and or drives. This is the only way.

I have a 001 interface and I wanted to try an M-Audio 2496 I have in another computer on the same computer with the 001. Is unplugging the 001 data cable sufficient to allow me to run PT MP on another partition? I'd rather not have to remove the 001 interface card.

While this hasn't been tested, it should work - given that you do not have both interfaces connected to the computer simultaneously.

Hi,

I get a firewire audiophile and still have my digi001 on my biG4 1,25GHz.

Both work together without unwired or unpluggin anything but you can not install PT M-Powered if another PT version is installed in the same system partition.

So I installed another OSX system (Panther) on another partition and install both M-Audio drivers (included with M-Powered softawre 1.4.3) and PT M-Powered (6.8).

I don't know if it's working wth an PCI M-Audio Card.

The main conflit issue I noticed is about Coreaudio. When both Digidesign Coreaudio (6.5.2 and 6.7) and M-Audio drivers installed in the same time, the access to coremidi is making a crash. The solution is not to install Digi coreaudio on the M-Powered system and vice-versa.

I also installed the 'normal' M-Audio drivers on my 'digi001' system and the same coremidi conflit append but my midi setup in PT still working.

If I bought a dual bootable G4. Would I be able to Boot OS 9 and run PT 5.x.x with my Audiomedia III and boot OS X and run Protools M-Powered using an audiophile card?

I wouldn't have drivers installed under OS X for the AM3 or an install of PT LE under OS X, just 2 seperate systems on different hardware running on different versions of the OS on the same partition.

Not something that we tested, but that should work, because all of the necessary files for each would be in separate locations.
