digi 002 firewire probs? "unable to connect to . .

so last night i was getting ready to do a few recordings and everytime i tried to boot up i got "unable to connect to digidesign hardware . . ."

so i tried everything i could possibly think of, including trying both firwire ports of my 002 with different firewire cables.

i then checked my macbook firewire port with an external drive and it works fine. i then checked all of my firewire cables with the external and they all work fine.

so what in the hell happened to the firewire ports on the 002?

they worked fine the day before, and i have not installed anything new, and i have not downloaded anything new.

i tried again today and i still cannot get the 002 to be recognized.

please help! it must be something with the firewire ports on the 002 since they are the only thing in the signal chain that is not working right?
