Default X-Form Plugin?

Hi

Is there any sound quality different between the X-form plugin http://www.avid.com/plugins/x-form and the X-form used in the elastic audio included in PT?

I have a singer and I want to get the +1 octave in the chorus but he can't, so I thought of doing that using x-form plugin and I want to know if it's good and sound natural.

Regards,
AK

AFAIK, its the same process. Changing pitch by an octave is not going to sound real, no matter how you do it(physics can't be cheated that much). The most I have shifted a lead vocal is about 3 steps(Elastic Pitch with some formant change with L'il Alterboy plugin done in audiosuite).

xform plug-in is a bit less of a hassle if you're going to commit it right away.

personally i think Xform plug sounds better for what you're doing but may be a mental thing.

i would try all different methods if it's the lead. (i.e. sound shifter, xform, poly, mono, etc... try them all). one will handle your audio file better than others without artifacts. they all seem to respond differently.
