Still can't believe the Avid management's position here. The business opportunity for Avid has been covered many times already. Long term user have monies ready for the upgrade but our money doesn't seem enough?

Amazing attitude and technical answers to our technical questions from a technical director are still unanswered. Leaves it clear, this is a marketing decision, hoping to get past big spenders to do the same again

Unfortunately this strategy has spectacularly backfired, we don't believe the shallow story we are given, it has just made matters worse. There are too many inconsistencies with other Avid controllers that somehow work, for it to satisfy.

So we are stuck in 2012, maybe not all that bad but Avid it could have been so much better for everyone.

Cheers Scotsman

Besides icon, what controllers still work in 11?
Lets say command 8 still works with 11.
Could somone remove the command 8 file in the controllers folder in 11
And replace it with the file from 10 or under to see if the older file works in 11?

To be clear, I'm not justifying or defending this position. I disagree with it. But I'm not the one who has to devote resources to getting it working again so it costs me nothing to complain.

I'm just observing that if Avid came out with a new controller today that fit my needs and my budget, I would still buy it even if my dealer told me that it wouldn't work with Pro Tools 17 in the year 2027.

No disrespect meant but isnt avid/protools suppose to be the leaders in the industry? What are all these resources everyone is speaking off.you would think it would take a rookie programmer a weekend to make this work.i just dont get it. We are not talking flying the shuttle to saturn here. Just making a controller work

I hear you, but essentially when you make decisions as to where you are allocating your budget dollars, you are voting YES for Avid's practices and decisions; thereby accepting this behavior that you disagree with.

You would, but it's not that simple. If you have one knob, you have one test. If your one knob has two functions, you have two tests. If you have two knobs with one function, you have two tests but if you have two knobs with two functions you have four tests. See the pattern?

1 - 2 - 4 - 8 - 16 - 32 - 64 - 128 - 256 - 512 - 1024 - 2048 - 4096 - 8192 - 16384 - 32768 ... etc, the power of two.

So if you have 16 buttons (on/off) you have 32768 combinations to test. And if you have 32 buttons (on/off) you have 2147483648 (yes, over 2000 million) combinations to test. And these are just on/off buttons.

How many buttons are there on a full-scale control surface? Are all of them simply on/off buttons?

Really, is it that simple? Simple to create, what about testing and supporting?

Think twice.

If one knob works why wouldnt the others work.why does it have to be so complicated.if one fader works the other faders should work.
Do you own a pro control or control 24?
Seems like mostly all buttons are an on off switch.pan left to right, fader up and down, mute on or off etc etc.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 - 2 - 4 - 8 - 16 - 32 - 64 - 128 - 256 - 512 - 1024 - 2048 - 4096 - 8192 - 16384 - 32768 ... etc, the power of two.

Please! Dont you think your going a little overboard? Really? If it were like the way you are making it out to be, nothing in the known world would get done.

Im buying a new computer keyboard but before i do the company has to spell everyword in the english language to make
sure it works....

No the old files are in a 32 bit format. The info needs to be compiled for 64 bit OS.
Ain't rocket science however...
The functions haven't changed the drivers have already been written.
