Default Is 3200x1800 high res on a 43 inch monitor possible?

So, like many, I bought a larger screen. in this case a 43 ich sony tv. Native is 3840x2160 which leaves everything too small for me. So I experimented and fond that 3200x1800 is a workable size BUT the tv only displays that in low resolution, which is too hard on the eyes. So, does anyone smarter than me know if it's possible to get 3200x1800 high res on a large monitor?

Or some other way to solve this problem?

mac 5,1 12 core rx470 video card.

Anything other than native resolution looks low res.

Just use it at native resolution and bring the screen closer to you.

Also normal TV screens often have some kind of image sharpening ane/or noise reduction processes going on, which look like they blur the image when you have used to a computer monitor. Turn those off and then see if the low res non-native resolution is good enough for you.

I can't bring it closer. it's already at the end of my d command, in front of the meter bridge.

I'll keep tweaking. I don't know why this is so difficult, but I don't understand this technology.

google the user guide pdf of your exact tv model and find out what kind of image processing it has. chances are by turning off some things it will magically start looking sharper.

System Preferences/Displays/Scaled.

Choose one of the larger text options. Your screen is 4K so one of these options should provide you with retina style resolution. If you option click scaled you’ll get every resolution available.

Make sure you’re choosing an input on your TV that supports some sort of PC/Gaming mode. Newer panels allow you to turn this on per input source. Older ones tended to have them linked to a certain input source.

You still need to tune the panel from TV mode to monitor/gaming mode

Good advice from Sardi. Option-click on 'Scaled' in sys prefs, and you can see the available resolutions, not the stupid size-icons. I'm using 720 x 1280 on my TV to let me operate it from 5 to 10 feet distance. Never had trouble with sharpness. But then, I don't get an option over 1600x900. Depends on the TV, I guess.

Never heard of 'gaming mode' and 'TV mode'.
