Default focusrite octopre

I have 2 questions first one is, whats a fair price for this focusrite octopre?
Second question, I am upgrading to digi 002 rack and instead of using my blackface ADAT for an additional 8 inputs I was wondering if this octopre would do the same thing?? and would I hook this up the same as I would with my ADAT setup Via lite pipe to my old digi 001 PCI card?
thanks Emanuele

Good price - http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/OctoPre/.

The Octopre can output both ADAT (lightpipe) and S/PDIF if it has the I/O card installed.

the Octopre LE is able to output ADAT, but you need the "optional" A/D converter expansion card, otherwise, you'll be stuck using the analog outputs...

the Octopre, however comes with the A/D converter and can output ADAT...

these would be of interest to you, as well. they will all do what you need with varying degrees of quality & price.

Mackie Onyx 800R
Presonus Digimax
M-Audio Octane
Behringer ADA800 (only as an absolute last "grandma needs a surgery" resort)

Take Care

I have the original Focusrite Octopre with the compression/limiting and the added on ADAT card that allows 8 additional inputs into Pro Tools through lightpipe. Email me at [email protected] if you are interested.

Hi all!

Sarry to hack this thread!
I´ve recently been thinking of getting an octopre.
Are you happy with the pre´s?
I have an M-Audio Octane and I´m happy with it but I could with another 8 pre´s and a different color or maybe should I get a presonus unit?
On the Octopre Le I dont like the fantom on all at the same time! And without pad or limiter on each channel it might be a little difficult to track drums esp. snare and overheads!
The octane has pads on all channels! It is realy a feature packed box!
