Transfer Of Ownership

I want to transfer my PT MPowered to a buddy of mine, but the page on the DIGI site talks about "Core Systems". Can I not transfer ownership of software, especially seeing that this software does not come with its own hardware?

Hello. I would contact Digidesign because I think your assesment may be correct. Transfer of Ownership definitely refers to Core Systems which entail hardware and software which in turn refer to LE systems (and TDM systems). M Powered as you mention is software only, so I would contact Digidesign about it. They may need to update/amend their posted policy to accomodate this. Good luck. Let us know what happens.

Its a interesting point because HD-LE systems are not sold without software. But Pro Tools Mpowered is software that is sold without Hardware or its not locked to any particular peice of hardware as the MAudio hardware is sold without software. It's a interesting question. I'll be interested to see what they say. Please post an update.

Digidesign does not do registration transfer of ownership of any iLok licenses. In the case of M-Powered, like plug-ins, the iLok license is the ownership of the product.

The transfer of iLok licenses is between the 2 parties involved, whether they use the iLok.com license transfer process from one iLok account to another, or if the old owner simply sells or gives the iLok to the new owner.

How do we proceed in the case of an upgrade? The version that was transferred was V7.3.

If they have M-Powered 7.3 on their iLok, and they have an iLok account, then they would just purchase the upgrade from 7.3 to 7.4 on the DigiStore the same as you would have. Except they would enter their own iLok account to make the purchase, where the 7.3 license is now.

They don't have an iLok account, so they have to open one now? Would iLok.com accept them with the same licenses that I originally opened my iLok account with?
