Default Best Drum Machine or Software?

I am wondering if someone can tell me the best drum machine or drum software to use with Pro Tools LE 5.1.1? I am looking for a natural real drum sound. No techno or midi sounding drums. Any help is appreciated.

Kenny

Okay I overlooked, it's use is mainly for electonic sound although if you get into the synthesis, natural sounding drums will be possible

Drumkit from Hell and BFD These are both superb.

im not sure if 5.3.1 has rewire...but Reason has incredible drum sounds and has thousands of patches. drumkit from hell is pretty good though too, both of those are great.

I'm a huge fan of battery, but i've only used the VST version.
I would say the quality of the drum "samples" are more important than the quality of the drum "sampler"

If you are using a sampler then get Drumkit from Hell but if you are looking for a plugin then get BFD.

Hi,

I am currently using PT 5.3.1 on WinXP.

Let me start by saying I have NO IDEA how to use a software sampler or MIDI within Pro Tools. I record straight audio - guitars, vocals, etc. It's mostly live "in the room" sounds.

I took a look at the BFD and DFH packages. They sound great!!!

Now, this might sound silly, but if I bought one of these packages, then how can I compose a drum part for a song?

- Is there a grid-style interface that I can use for this task?

There's something I am missing about this whole process. If someone would be kind enough to explain this concept OR direct me to some informative links, then I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
EG

I have an MPC2000XL and I love it! I also have fruityloops, but the drum samples on the MPC are much more realistic...

Then again one can sample drums from any/everywhere so it's really a matter of preference. The MPC has a more natural flow to it though (drum pads you hit as opposed to programing drums in FruityLoops and similar software..).
