Default Zoom Toggle

I've mentioned this before, but it seems an obvious fix.
Using the Command Focus "E" key to toggle your zoom view does not bring the selected area to the top of the Edit Window.
If you've selected an area on a track near the bottom of your Edit Window, and press "E", it will zoom out of view off the bottom of the screen.
Who would possibly want that ?

Please for the love of god fix this.

People sometimes want to continue looking at other tracks above the one that is being toggled. Also, there are plenty of customizer utilities that use GUI placement to make macros. Those would break if the track shifts when zooming. Zoom toggle works the same as zoom. As it should.

So no.
Nothing to fix.
There is a command to scroll track to top. Use that if you need it.

the track already shifts when zooming, so your logic does not pass muster.
so, include a preference for zoom placement, top, center, last position, etc.
off screen is absurd.
maybe you can choose the offscreen option, and use your scroll command.
seems utterly stupid to have a quick-key that needs yet another quick-key.

I'm not seeing this. If I make a selection at the bottom of the screen and then I scroll up to the top and then press "E" it zooms into that selection where the top of the selection is at the top of the edit window and everything I selected fits neatly inside the Edit window. Maybe I am not understanding. If I press "E" again, it zooms back out to where I was.

I'm not talking about scrolling first.
Imagine you've got 16 or 24 audio tracks visible in your Edit Window taking up the entire Edit space.
You make a selection on the bottom track and want to view it in detail.
Pressing E should focus that track's waveform into view, based on your last zoom level if that's what the pref is set to (mine is set to "Last Used"), but it doesn't bring it into view . . . it will zoom the bulk of the waveform offscreen at the bottom.
The logical thing to me would be to bring that selected waveform either top/center or middle/center.
Pressing E again would return everything to how you started.

I'm still trying to make sure I understand what your saying. So before you hit "E" are you selecting the complete WAV form of what you are wanting to see in detail?

My Zoom Toggle Behavior

So this is what happens with me when I select a section and Zoom Toggle it. I see everything in the Edit Window in Detail. I don't understand what you mean by the Waveform not being in view.

I'm just selecting a portion of a waveform, but not toggling to Full Screen Mode as you demonstrate . . . just Large track size.

Here's a video demonstration of how it worked in Pro Tools 10, versus how it works now in Pro Tools 2022.4
Notice that it worked correctly back in Pro Tools v10, and now it doesn't.

2 - Pro Tools v2022.4 Zoom Toggle :

Mods, feel free to download these videos in order to show the programmers what's wrong.

Tweakhead, what are your "preferences/editing [zoom toggle]" settings set to? I have track height set to "fit to window" and track view set to "no change" and it behaves like Dizzi45z's above. Maybe something got changed in your settings by mistake.

*I just tried the "extreme" setting with multiple items selected and it cut off a portion of my selection like in your video above. "fit to window" keeps everything visible for me.
