Uninstalling Pro Tools 8
1. When I installed PT8 I did not uninstall PT7.4
Should i have? 2. If I do a CLEAN uninstall of PT8 and then reinstall it will I have to re-install both/either my digi plugins and Third party plugins. A PT techie told me that I will be OK, that reinstalling PT8 will leave ALL my plugins available? Not confident about this. Any help?

Re: Uninstalling Pro Tools 8
So what is the status of your system right now? You say you installed PT8 over 7.4? My setup instructed me to uninstall the older version before it would install PT8. The PT8 install disk includes an uninstall utility. In any case, all my old plugins are still showing up in PT8(at least the ones I have needed).

Re: Uninstalling Pro Tools 8
Sorry albee1952, I actually did do a safe uninstall but had problems with PT8. So after my original post on this subject I did a clean uninstall PLUS removed anything to do with Digidesign i.e. in Applications and Library/Application Support. Now all my third party plugins have gone and I get no sound through my 003. With BFD2, for example, I still have the stand alone - will updating to latest version put BFD2 on as standby or should I start over and reinstall the whole app.?

Re: Uninstalling Pro Tools 8
I just did a clean uninstall of PT due to issues with East West's "Goliath" software.
All my stand alone units still function perfectly yet none of my 3rd party plugins are in the Digi folder. Synthogy Ivory Pianos Reason 3.0 Waves Gold Bundle the list continues... Do I have to reinstall the entire app??

Re: Uninstalling Pro Tools 8
What's the BEST way to do an uninstall of Pro Tools LE 8.0.3 (Mac) for a reinstall of 8.0.3? I haven't done one before, and scarred to mess it up!
Haven't had much luck so far with 8.0.3. Thanks Geoff |

Re: Uninstalling Pro Tools 8
Go to:
Applications>Digidesign>Protools>Protools Utilities>Uninstall Protools. When you click the Uninstall Protools icon, it will give you a choice at some point to do a complete uninstall (vs. whatever the other one is). Choose complete. Note that this won't affect your sessions or any 3rd party plugins. |
