Can't position video on a specific location?
why is it that I can't position (or nudge) video (like audio) samplewise but only framewise?

Re: Can't position video on a specific location?
Resolution.
A frame is basically the equivalent of a sample. At least that's how I always understood it. But I'm just an audio guy. |

Re: Can't position video on a specific location?
likely because of the fact that you canīt move anything beyond itīs smallest element size. On a movie you propably have 24 or 25 frames per second. Protools refers to that grid because there is no reason to trim it somewhere else.
As you move audio by samples the smallest step wouldnīt be smaller than 1s/samplerate. Does that make sense to you? |

Re: Can't position video on a specific location?
seems to be true.. Why do you want to spot it somewhere else?
I canīt see no benefit from it. Even if the video track lingers somewhere in between, the single frames will be displayed at the nearest frame grid. I think its in the nature of technics. |

Re: Can't position video on a specific location?
I have to align video files (with recorded audio from camera) to the multitrack recording. In order to do so I'm comparing the audio waveforms. So most of the times the video is off by an 1/2 frame. Is there a way to fix that?

Re: Can't position video on a specific location?
move the audio to fit the movie.. although 1/2 a frame off wouldnīt bust your project ;-)

never ever move the video to fit the sound.
ever. you're begging for trouble when the time comes to transfer to tape. |
