Default Rewire problems

Hello everybody.
I have an imac 10.4.11 with pro tools version 7.3 and reason 3.
all legit, no pirateware or anything like that.

This is my clients machine...I've never experienced anything like this.
No matter what, Reason will not show up in Pro tools.

Reason recognizes the mbox2, but doesn't rewire as a plug-in.
I've tried everything I can think of. Has anyone else experienced this or can point me in the direction where I can fix this?

thank you

P.s. I installed the latest rewire version 1.7 and I copied the plug-in and moved it to the application support folder in digidesign/plug-ins

what else should I do?
I've tried everything.
thanks

Have you launched the application in standalone mode. This is a one-time excercise that's required to install certain Rewire components.

yes....
I just installed reason 4 because I thought that it would work instead of three and I'm having the same problem.
At the end of the reason installation it said something about rewire being locked and it was unable to move???
This is the problem.
Pro tools is not recognizing reason. Reason is registered, installed, and works fine (it uses the mbox hardware, I can see that)

The problem is rewire.
How can I make this work?
It's menacing
