Got HD1, but it's underpowered, need HD2, but that means at least 2000 for another card.

Sell HD1, get HD Native and instantly have HD2 power on my Mac Pro.

Give me reasons why this isn't a good idea quick...I have a buyer

It depends on your workflow and your I/O

PT9 ADC currently only calculates hardware delay correctly for Avid hardware... so if you use inserts and plan to use 3rd party I/O's I'd wait for an update. Using PT9 and/or Native/HD with Avid hardware is, of course, fine.

if you know your 3rd party delay, you can enter that manually in the ADC offset.

I have the OMNI Rail, so it looks good...I'm only tracking....me....one track at a time, and the usual VI suspects...

Hi Tom,
Well, with your HD1 PCIe card's serial, you can get the $349 box upgrade with the free ilok. This will give you an ilok license that will give you PT9 & PT8 on another machine with FULL HD features.

That would cost the LE man on the street with LE a $249 upgrade PLUS a $1995 CPToolkit = $2244 street value. So there is some value in your HD1

If you do that, then sell your card, the new buyer will have to buy the $599 full HD license to use the card.

That's how it "reads to me."

I "guess" there could be a situation where the new buyer could only buy a Pro Tools 8 asset? OR perhaps a more expensive Pro Tools 9 asset if the serial has already been "used" ?
Wild speculation on my part here...?

Good luck & All the Best :)

Walt

Cool stuff! My questions:

1. Does it support a core audio aggregate device (multiple interfaces)?

2. Are PT9 sessions backwards compatible with PT8?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Core Audio and aggregate devices are handled by the OS so if PT9 supports "core audio devices" then any such aggregate device should be available to PT.

nevertold.

No NuBus support?

Do I have to update the Pref and Databases helper?

What's the info on the Audio/Mix Engine? Is it the same across all versions of 9 or is 9 and 9HD different?

What are the specs?

Thanks!

Pro Tools = 32-bit Floating Point
Pro Tools|HD Native = 64-bit Floating Point
Pro Tools|HD = 48-bit Fixed Point

And if I buy the toolkit? Do I get the better mix engine?
