Numpad Emulation on Macbooks

I've been missing the numpad while working on the road with my Macbook and found a good solution emulating it with the "fn" modifier key using the free Karabiner Elements software.

Within Karabiner Elements preferences there is a preference pane "Complex modifications" where you can add custom keyboard mappings.

I have created a mapping for German keyboard layouts that works for me. Free feel to download and modify it for your needs. You will manually need to add this file to this directory: "~/.config/karabiner/assets/complex_modifications/"

My keyboard layout now looks like this when holding the "fn" key:

That's great! I remember this being a default feature in the G4 Powerbooks and then it got dropped at some point...
