Conform tracks to an indentified beat track.
I have a track that was played along side an original version. It doesnt line up exactly with the original however.
I have gone through the original bar by bar using tab to transient and used identify beat. I now have a different BPM along the top as it is constantly changing. Thats all fine. Now when I come to use beat detective on my drum tracks for example it never seems to work for me. I am trying to separate and conform regions so that they play along with the original. There always seems to be too much material that is gotten rid of, or it just isnt finding the beats. What is the best method of using beat detective for this purpose? is it worth going through it bar by bar, or maybe on a track by track basis?. Cheers for any input |

Re: Conform tracks to an indentified beat track.
Are you just trying to match the drums to the tempo of the imported track?
Was the original track recorded to a metronome/click track? I find what works for me is to figure out the average tempo. Unless of course there are supposed to be tempo changes. In which case, you may need to make a tempo map. Without more information, I'm thinking that you may or may not be missing a step or grabbing too many bars in Beat Detecting. Perhaps you're not in 'conductor' mode. Go to transport and make sure the little conductor guy is selected. Here's a great vid from Puremix...Ben is awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QE4zlj2_RrU Here's another link on tempo mapping (but it sounds like you have that figured out): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0xlBU1HS3A

Dont think the original was played to a click as it does naturally drift from like say 111bpm to 121 throught out, majority of the track is in the late teens though. Its in conductor already yes. I think its just my beat detective technique and I just need to practice it some more. Have seen those videos though, and yeh the grid is already locked to the original. I've done what the guy in the second vid has done. |
