I heard first hand of a guy was using the plug-in for recording then bought an Axe FXII and after using the two products for a while returned the Axe FX II. So apparently it is good .

Just my opinion but to try and cop the tone of a software modeller and one that uses IR's would make it very difficult. 'Singtall' at the 11R presets site would be your best bet though if you are interested.

I would like to try it, but, unfortunately, I don't have ProTools 9 or 10 .

You should be able to make a preset like that. Try some delay, chorus, and reverb. Maybe add in some flanger.

Another way to unlock the tones in the 11R is to bypass the cab(s) in the 11R and run through a cab simulator plugin or IR plugin loaded with cab/mic IR's.

Checkout Redwirez Impulse Responses and MixIR2 to host the IR's.

I'm using S-Gear in Pro Tools. I only practice with 11R. For recording I use my 11R as an interface and use the new AAX S-Gear plugin.

I think Avid should look into a collaboration with Mike Scuffham the owner of S-Gear. As much as I love the 11R clean AC30 and Matchless, The Stealer in S-Gear IMO is slightly better than the cleans in 11R. I don't want to start a debate, I've spent a thousand hours playing through 11R and I trust my ears.

S-Gear IMO sounds more like a tube amp than 11R.

Avid should release a new expansion pack with S-Gear amps. It won't happen but it would be cool.

aax for Mac & PC are now done - also VST's and au's too - great standalone app too. 15 day trial - I bought it !!!! Be sure to try the presets I mentioned above - "Heaven" gives me a woodie. Don't get me wrong - I just spent an hour and a half on my 11R - wailin' !!!

Hmmm, I actually thought the opposite after a quick audition. I wasn't that impressed with S-Gear and was glad to be able to revert back to my 11R! I didn't think it did high gain very well. It did have some nice clean and mid gain sounds though.

I agree - the 11R does high-gain like no other... it excels at it. But for everything else I love S-Gear.
