Something just doesn't ring right about this oft-repeated statement about Avid can't comment because they're a public company...
Well just take a guess - i will give u a hint

it starts with "apple having a Billion"

and ends with "Dollars in Cash in the bank"

Not to mention the overseas accounts - not to mention the historical relationship b/t Steve J and his company - he did what he thought was right - when he wanted to do it.

We all love avid but they do not have the same leveraging power -

1 to say whatever they want and get away with it

2 or to say nothing and you can go by a PC or an Apollo or Studio 1 if u want

I think you're missing my point...

Supposedly, Avid can't legally comment because of some acronym law regarding publicly traded companies.

So, how is it Apple is able to get around this law?

I've changed my tune, until our posts are deleted I'd say there's a 100% chance something is in the works for Eleven Rack.

The new CEO may nix prior plans but I believe the Chimp has been sincere and when he posted, in that time frame, Avid management did intend to move Eleven Rack forward.

I'd give it a chance.

Very true, there is a big difference between a privately held company and a public company.

Is there anybody who hasn't heard that Apple's stock price has been taking a hit lately. This can only happen because Apple is a public company, traded on various stock exchanges.
Avid can pretty much say whatever they want regarding product lines, timeframes, etc., the only thing they can't do is deliberately mislead investors or prospective investors of their financial performance during the current financial year - the past year(s) is available for everyone to see by their filings at the SEC.

So, Avid can tell us exactly what they have planned for PT11 or 11R and whatever else they are working on. It certainly would make things much more lively around here if they did - but, that won't happen .

When they announced PT9 Avid said that they would be listening to the customers and giving them what they wanted and ... well that didn't last long.

I will probably buy a PT10 license when PT11 come out, but, that will be the end of the relationship with Avid. Unless they release a kick-@r$e Xpansion Pack and/or a new modeller with every gee-whiz feature I could ask for ... but really that ain't gonna happen either.

About time on the Orange amps
Although if it's going to be purple colored I'd suggest a name change to Purple Haze. After all if Avid can make reference to faux musicians in a cult movie why not make reference to a real musician (Hendrix)?

Just one d*mn minute here!

The paint color on my '98 Honda Accord is "Purple Haze".

I don't want to ruin the value of my vehicle by an association with Avid...

On another note I saw something on the Internet the other day that said that they were filming a Hendrix movie

Andre from the hip hop group Andre and Big Boi was playing the man - they showed a still shot and he looked really good - Afro and all

There was a time in the 90's when Eric Peters, one of the founders of Avid would participate on the Avid-L listserve. Those were the great days of Avid. Avid was taking over the world of film and television editing and having Mr. Peters participate in a professional listserve was amazingly great.

Can you imagine an Avid CEO having discussions with us here? It's not about being a publicly traded company, it's about forthrightness. Avid has not been forthright past the point of the exit of Eric Peters.

You can have a similar experience at this point in time by participating at the Kemper forum. Mr. Kemper is active on his company forum. Very cool.

You never know - I imagine he could be lurking - for real he could be

What a better place to find out about what the customer thinks
