Default Hard Drive Related Problems

Hello,
I hope everyone is well.

Before beginning, here are my PC Specs and Hard Drive situation
As of Pro Tools, I am running Pro Tools 12.5.0

HP Omen Laptop
i7 10750H
16GB RAM
1660Ti 6GB
Windows 11 Home

Hard Drives
C: SSD with 512GB
D:StoreJet 25M3 with 1TB
E: SDSSDE30-2T00-G25 with 2TB

I am currently working on alot of Pro Tools projects, that are all stored and ran off the E hard drive.
All of a sudden, I am unable to save progress on already created projects, and even save newely created projects to the E hard drive.
Pro Tools either pops up once in a few minutes stating that it cannot autobackup the session, or this error when I press CTRL + S:

Could not save "" because The system cannot find the file specified. (2) e:\SESSIONS\SESSION FOLDER NAME\ghmsYYQQgqdzMBBB.

This randomly named file cannot be found anywhere on my hard drive...
The weirder thing is once I copy the same exact session to my D drive, it will perfectly work and I am able to save any progress on the session.

I know certain people would suggest simply moving to drive D, but I am not willing to do that as its a much slower hard drive and it is not stable enough...

Thank you very much to anyone who can help

Hi, and welcome to the "DUC".
Not everyday we can welcome a new member from your continent.

I can't help you with your specific problem, but I can tell you that windows11 was never supported w/PT12. In fact, only the very most recent versions support w11:

Pro Tools Operating System Compatibility Chart

It doesn't mean that's the cause of your problem, or that it won't work. I'll leave it to my windows friends on the forum to hopefully help you out further.

Hello,
Thank you very much for the welcome.

I would like to note that this problem is something completely new...
I have used Pro Tools on Windows 11 for the better part of a year without any issues.

It seems to be more hard drive related and not windows related, I might be wrong though.

First I would check Workspace > Volumes and make sure the E drive still has "R" permission.

Are you running any backup software on that drive in the background?

Personally, I would get a new hard drive, preferably an SSD, and get your sessions off that drive. If it hasn't change "R" in the Workspace, it's probably failing.

I consider any and all of my drives, even though at the moment they're fine, to be on the edge of failure. I image them nightly with Macrium Reflect, keeping a rolling 3 nights, and also image before any update/upgrade/install/uninstall.

The hard drive which seems to be problematic is an SSD..
I would not be surprised if its failing, I have already copied any significant files off of it in case of immediate failure.

I hope it is simply a problem on the software side of things though

Update:

I installed the exact same installation of Pro Tools on a fresh PC which never had any plugins etc.

The hard drive worked without any trouble and without any errors...seems like its a software issue.
(I did backup the hard drive for the worst case scenario)

Would love to hear if there is any known fix to these kind of problems

If your OS&PT combo is blessed by Avid, top three causes for random errors are:
- plugins
- plugins
- plugins

WIth that said, W11 and PT12.5 are not compatible

Hello,

After a fresh wipe of Pro Tools, I have had 0 issues so far.
I will do my best to upgrade as fast as I can to avoid any other issues.

Thank you
