Default yet another Axiom question

I've seen a couple of other posts talking about Axiom not working with Pro Tools 8. I have the same issues with my Axiom 49. I've read through those posts and have tried everything stated. I've gone through the peripherals list and selected it and so on. I am wondering if the problem stems from the fact that my computer is running Windows Vista Ultimate in 64 bit. If that is the issue, what can i do to correct it? I've already tried downgrading to the 32 bit software but Windows doesn't let me do that so I am stuck with the 64 bit version. Does anyone have any advice about getting my Axiom to communicate with Pro Tools? By the way, the Axiom is not broken of faulty, it functions perfectly with Reason 4 as well as Abelton Live. I am a complete noob to Pro Tools and have only been using it for about a week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well if you have PT working in Vista 64, i dont see why you can get the Axiom to work since M Audio has 64 bit drivers for it, as far as I know anyway. That said, at this time 64 bit OS's are not supported. But they are working on it.

as far as pro tools, it isn't doing anything. pro tools recognizes it in the peripherals sections but it does not function what so ever. nothing happens.

thanks for the response.

Peripherals? The only reason to set it up under peripherals is if you are trying to use it as a control surface for Pro Tools, and in that case you need to read THIS POST.

If you are just trying to use it as a standard MIDI controller to play instruments, then it should show up as the input for MIDI and Instrument tracks automatically if it is installed correctly.
