True, but in case you tarred (zipped) them before moving to non-HFS drive the resource forks are still there. Storing the files on cdrom is also good IF you create a Mac/ISO9660 hybrid disk, where DOS style filenames are used on the ISO partition (ignoring resource forks) but the real deal stored on Mac partition.

Also, if the resource forks are still available but disconnected from the file, here's a way to recombine them:

Code:
cp -a /source/filename /destination/filename
dd if=/source/._filename of=/destination/filename/..namedfork/rsrc
Creating the resource fork from scratch is a bit more painful but can be done.

Don't say SampleCell. It makes me pine for the halcyon days of yore.

Sadly, I've had to move past the SampleCell instruments, though that is the reason for this thread: I have a million SC instruments whose samples are (were) SDII and nothing will load the instruments/banks. At least I can use their audio via ADSR.

Yeah, most of my Samplecell instruments were originally Synclavier sounds, so they're not usually mapped-out. But every so often I remember certain drum/cymbal/FX samples and I go searching for them. I have found that AudioFinder will let you preview SD2s, and can convert a whole folder, so it's a good thing I already had things semi-organized years ago.

Still no nice solution for this? Looking at each of the suggested converter apps, I have found some negative reviews on it's SD2 conversion. Still looking.

+1 for BarbaBatch by Audio Ease...

https://www.audioease.com/barbabatch/

...but I appreciate that it is pricey for what it is. I bought it a long time ago and, every once in a while, I go back to it and it's still rock-solid. (Yikes I don't want to think about how long ago I bought it!). Same with their Snapper...there are still a few things that it does that haven't been matched.

Actually it's a handy little app. A friend of mine wrote it for internal use at our company when we used to work together. Then he put it on the App Store when he moved on. It's fairly barebones in terms of GUI, but it's fast, works well, and is pretty useful to have around.

P.S. Yes, the icon was sort of a joke, but it sort of stuck and I guess he kept it moving forward.
