Default Hey Guys..Which 1st...Control or Mix?

Thinking of getting the mix as I'm tired of mousing around, and can only afford one of the two....Control or Mix....but it would be nice to do transport functions too...what would you suggest going with first....more faders or some faders (on the wrong side though...to me) and more control?

Using on Mac with HD Native...

Thanks
Tom

If you only can get one, I would recommend the control. I have so many priceless macros set on it, recalling plugins and layouts, that my dialog editing/mixing workflow would be near-impossible without it now. 4 faders doesn't suck, either.

Thanks Ryan.

I guess it kind of put me off also because it looked so complex my eyes glazed over as they were giving demos online of it.

Can you give me some examples of how it speeds your typical workflow in a mix up? I mean can imagine, but it would be great to hear specifics.

thanks
Tom

For workspeed, I would say Transport + Mix is the combo that really speed things up. You can save a lot of macros on the Transport and you bank 8 tracks at the time on the mix. You can also put plugincontrol over 8 tracks that isn't really doable over the four faders on the control (if you want them on the faders and not on the knobs, that is...). The Transport sits better in your right paw, then the transport-section of the Control - but you have to invest a few hours getting it setup to suit your workflow (and then I don´t just mean your PT workflow... - the only program where I feel Control is superior, is Final Cut X)

transport & mix... i'm getting the mix this week.. which is what matters to me.. i work with full band recordings... 32 tracks+ are not unusual for my mixes...

i already have 2 24" monitors for my Ptools & plug ins... dont need a touch screen for all that... transport is a necessity, though i can wait on that one...

Thanks all.

I ordered Transport, just to get my feet wet, and mix will be following!

I agree with the advice of getting a Mix and Transport. I have a Control and barely use it.
