Default Mac Pro 2013: Big Sur vs Montery?

Any real world experiences and thoughts are much appreciated!

Mac Pro Late 2013: Big Sur or Monterey?

Checking the hive mind now for gems after I had such a fantastic life changing positive experience going through the compatibility docs. It's on Catalina now, more deets in about section.

Thanks!

What problem are you trying to solve by upgrading?

Any restrictions on what macOS versions you need to run? Plugin compatibility only you can tell.

If there is not a pressing problem, since Ventura is out now I'd hold off until Ventura is officially supported. (and many or us seem to be running it without problems, but I'm assuming you want official support...) Waiting for Ventura official support may get you a Pro Tools version natively compatible with Apple Silicon which you might want to be on on your Intel Mac when you inevitable migrate to a new Apple Silicon Mac. So that might be a decision factor.

I'm also suspecting Ventura may be the last or second last release for Intel Macs... so why rush now to upgrade?

Intels should end up on Catalina.

Huh?

Running a 2019 Intel MBP just fine on OS 12.6.

Double Huh.

And personally I'd go for Ventura... as I have on my MBP. Even with hacking needed to get Ventura on the Trashcan. Maybe wait for official Pro Tools support on Ventura.

Thx Darryl, et al
I'm asking about OSs specifically for a Late 2013 Mac Pro.

Apple's compatibility docs say a Late 2013 MP will not run Ventura (and I just don't have the time to needle d¡çk all the little issues that come up running off book) so I'm limiting it to Big Sur vs Monterey... and specifically people with experience running either of these OSs on the aging 2013 MP.

Derryl, If you are actually running Ventura, on a Late 2013 MP, I'm listening...

Pro Tools Ultimate has been running so well for me on Ventura. Probably the best combo I've had in the last 25 years.
This is on Mac Studio Ultra, using RME I/O.

Well I had that exact same Mac Pro until around Oct 22nd. At that point I had installed in this order from these OSX versions. Sierra, Mojave, Catalina, and then straight to Monterey with absolutely no issues. I am currently also running the same Monterey 12.6.1 for the new Mac Studio ULTRA as it's the most compatible with my setup here with my Dolby ATMOS room and composing, mixing. DADMAN software as well. Do not see any reason to question the tweaks that were done with Catalina and Monterey. Check you firmware etc. and whatever you might be using. G
