Hey guys, is it possible to get a pure volume boost without changing presets. ive already tried the white boost after the amp but it just sounds like distorted crap... what do you guys do?

There's no reason the white boost shouldn't serve your purpose unless you're already running the levels at max. Use the metering function (found by scrolling all the way to the right in the rig chain) to check this.

You could also use MIDI or an expression pedal or a switch to alter the rig output level as required.

I've used a graphic EQ for level boost in a lot of my patches, it works very well.

This is what I do. The FCB1010 with the EurekaProm chip installed works perfectly for controlling the Eleven Rack.

Agreed.

You can also use the EQ's to slam the input of the amp and/or also adjust the frequencies of the EQ to help carve the tone going into the amp, which will affect the sound coming out. Its a good technique to know, and I believe Chris has posted about this in his Eleven Rack Blog, however he is using the P-EQ

If you are using a crunchy or saturated patch to start with, putting a boost or overdrive or EQ in front of the amp won't make it get louder, it will just get more saturated. The boost needs to happen AFTER the input of the amp. That means the FX loop.

Since I don't have outboard FX in my FX loop, and my output is always set to "Rig Output", I use the old FX loop boost trick, and it works well if done correctly:

Take a short 1/4" cable, and jumper the FX send to the FX return, and then in each preset, place the virtual FX loop after the cab block, and then turn the FX return level up. Assign a switch on your MIDI foot controller to send a CC that engages\disengages the loop. Now when you step on that switch, you get a boost.

You have to adjust the "send" level too to avoid digital clipping, IIRC, but I don't remember the specifics. There is a good explanation over at elevenrackpresets.com...

The best solution I have found is to use the Dyn Compressor POST amp stage. Just set the threshold at maximum and boost the volume however much you need with the gain knob. I have this on all my patches and use it as a solo boost. Works perfectly.

Personally, all my patches have a graphic eq with a slight boost in mids, and over all volume for a solo boost.

I use this both before and/or after the amp module for gain/volume boost.
Used in front of the amps to drive it a little harder for a little more pre-amp distortion.
Used after the amp only for clean volume boost.

I've found this to be the "cleanest" way to add pre-amp gain and volume boost.

In my experience, using the Dyn Comp is more neutral than the Graphic EQ. Though, not everyone will have access to it since it is part of the Expansion Pack.

The Graphic added a slight bit of coloration to the tone according to my ears.
