https://www.bing.com/videos/rivervie...342F&FORM=VIRE https://www.bing.com/videos/rivervie...E5DF&FORM=VIRE I know there is(was) another as I used to have it, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. My solution was this: I got a rolling stand(from On-Stage) and attached a small shelf. On the shelf I had a mini keyboard with trackpad and this went thru a 30' USB extendo cable to the computer. I also screwed down a 24" LED monitor and ran a 30' HDMI cable back to the computer. I took the main screen connection(also HDMI) and ran it to a little active HDMI splitter($40) so the remote cart gave me my EDIT screen and control over the session. I'm sure there are other options as well, but this worked great for me.

Yeah I think this is my best option. I like the minimalist approach of just a mic and lyric sheet. I'm still scouring YouTube videos for advice on PT playlists and loop recording. |

I agree the minimalist approach is great and what I used to do, just start record, go in my booth and get on with it. But there were times when, while I had record armed a Track, I forgot to start record and didn't know that because I could hear myself in my headphones, so I had to do the read all over again. And there were times I needed to replace a line or change a word or two and I would have to do the dance of record a few takes, go out and cut the change in, did it work, no back in the booth, rinse and repeat. Then during COVID I needed to lay up to video and match timecode - not possible just starting record and going into the booth.
Now, with a laptop in my booth (or other means) to see and control Pro Tools, I know if record has started, I know if I like a take or not since I can playback from the booth, I can punch in at the right place and know if the take will work because I can do the edit in the booth, and I can read along to video and move Clips to the proper timecode if I have to again, without leaving my booth. As always, YMMV.

Thanks... all good points. I'm gonna be out of the studio for about 3 days. I'll try my first approach and then PM you if I need help setting up a remote system. ![]() |
