True! But you have to admit, Dolly sounds great even at half speed.

Or if you have UVI Falcon it's pitch facility is aces. Supposedly the same people who did the Ircam Lab stuff.

Ok, after a lot of try same issue, I try in 16/24/32 bit, 44.1, 48, 96 etc
In protools 2018, 2019, 2020, fresh install each time. Just my HD I/O + HDX, internal or external clock, same **** !

So I must keep a partition boot for protools 10, what a shame, I can't buy a new mac and an S6, or need to wait the end of this production (104 x 5 min animation)

thx for help

Avid, could your check your code for the next release ?
Thx

You could - but part of the "magic" of recording at half-speed and then playing it back at normal speed is the way it affects the performance itself. Most people's phrasing / pacing / vibrato will speak differently when they have to perform slowly.

(Apologies if you already know that and are just poking fun at the thread.)

I did 208 episodes like that, acting with the half speed is not easy but after 4 whole season, it's fine ;-)

I can confirm this, too. 2020.12 Ultimate on Mojave. Periodic clicks on half speed record. Has the OP filed a support ticket for this?

I get clicks too. Why not just use Elastic Audio Varispeed? It accomplishes the exact same effect.

It does the same thing to the audio, but it doesn't affect the source performance the same way.
Quite often when you have to sing / play at half-speed, you sing or play differently - and how that gets altered is part of the magic of the speedup.
Vibrato and pitch bends in particular get a very signature character to them.
(Listen to Prince's "Erotic City" for great vocal examples, or KC and the Sunshine Band's "Get Down Tonight" for a great guitar example - what sounds like a pitch-bent clavinet is actually a guitar recorded at half speed.)
