Default Bass Traps

Hi

I need to tune the low end of my control room; does anybody know where to find a few schemes, measures, or drawings of an efficent bass trap model; I'm quite handy with tools, so I can just build it by myself, I'm only missing the basic project.

Thanx

L.G.,

One of the classic books on the topic you mentioned is "Acoustic techniques for Home & Studio", by F.Alton Everest, TAB books #1696. You'll find all the necessary info in there, with schematics and theory. Although the book is quite old, it's very knowledgeable and still current: I've designed a few recording studios with its help (and some other sources of info as well, of course).

Hope this helps.

Didier

Didier

I have a book from Alton Everest, it's " Acoustic Manual", don't know if it's the same you have but with a different title (maybe the newer edition has another title); it has a few helpfull concepts, but it's more theory oriented, and the schematics are not so detailed, that' why I'm looking for something a little more accurate. I'm checking your title out anyway.

Thanx

Hi
Try, "Building A [The??] Recording Studio" by Jeff Cooper. It has great info on constructing bass traps as well as broadband absorbers. Also "How To Build a Small-Budget Recording Studio From Scratch" by the above-mentioned F. Alton Everest. If you want quick and dirty, you could try the Auralex foam stuff (LENRDs, Venus Basstraps, etc.) Not so pretty, but works really well. Also, the RPG products are good, but are pretty spendy. If you have the space, and (as you say) are handy w/ tools, build your basstraps with wood; it'll look MUCH better and you can tune it to the specific requency or range that you're after. Hope this helps, good luck!

Thanx for the suggestions.

I'm going with the hand made DIY bass traps, as I provided all of the acoustic correction for the rest of my studio so far; low end is a tough beast to tame though; I'm checking these books out.

Thanx Again
