Default Audio Drift issue synching music to picture

I am having a sync issue while trying to sync music to footage give to me by Editorial.

The QuickTime is 23.976 and they have a music playback playing that was recorded during filming. However, the music on the Production track will not sync with my clean WAV of the same music file... so, is there a pulldown issue?

My session is running 23.976 with no pulldown/pullup

The music was played back by a mixer off a CD player but recorded at 48048.

I've tried taking my clean music file and speeding it to 99.9% as well as down to 100.1% - but neither of those time shifted files sync up. They drift as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are many variables. How many frames of sync drift happen each minute? There might be a second pullup/down going on somewhere along the production path. It is impossible to guess wihtout much more information. Assuming the CD player on set was not referenced to video sync, the amount of varispeed may be random. I'd try to match it in Pro Tools and give Editorial a test output. Make sure your work remains in sync when they match it to the video, if it doesn't then start looking at the sticky at the top of this forum.

Thanks, I think you're right and I should try and provide Editorial with audio instead of having me try to match their drifting track.

BTW, what do you mean by checking the stickie above?

There are several "sticky" threads (they do not scroll away over time) at the top of this forum that deal with some frequently arrising issues. I'm not sure if this one is related to your problem or not:
