Oddly worded headline.

Cute that audio hardware is the scapegoat for missed earnings

By the time these things are publicly reported the decision is done. The hedge fund wants out. We can only hope the Avid staff doesn't get screwed (including the fine folks we've gotten to know here)

Avid stock climbed quite a bit on the possibility of the sale.

Stock price is going down again already and even the jump to $25 yesterday is still way below the $32 it was around mid April.

Relevant.

“…[We bought Avid in 2022 because they were the ‘arms dealer’ of equipment in the streaming wars. The war is now over and Netflix won.]”

Which company would be a suitable buyer?

Can’t think of one at the moment.

Ah the wise words of someone who knows exactly nothing about the media business. But this is a good example of why companies like Avid struggle. These yahoos keep buying and dumping.

Yes but this kind of money-hungry nonsense takes from investors is exactly what you deserve if you necessarily want to be a (even so money hungry) Listed Company.

Once investors don’t have the feeling they can earn money on your companies stocks, they run away, and then the company falls.

The article from Yahoo Finance indicates that LVS Advisory (which is an "boutique" investment portfolio advisory firm) has already sold its stock in Avid...they were the ones that invested in 2021 but now feel like the media streaming wars are over (I also disagree with this, the writers strike has lot of support and streaming is not the golden goose that Netflix thought it was, they've oversold the goose here)...so LVS sells Avid stock...which starts this whole conversation about someone buying up Avid...but I'm not sure that is what is actually going on...

As far as I can tell, with limited financial sleuthing...Avid got a boost in 2021 for streaming venues...but then ran into supply side issues...this would be in the video streaming end of things...and now the streaming flash sale is over and Avid has a few orders pending but nothing else in the big que...

I doubt they are getting sold...it would require an investor...and who wants to buy when its underperforming and having these issues?

We live mostly on the audio side of the tracks with a few crossovers... I think this doesn't affect us much unless Avid really screwed the pooch and over-extended themselves for streaming...

Who knows?
