Default Mixing with headphones

Hi,

The TB Isone Binaural speaker and room simulator is a VST plugin which cannot run in Pro Tools LE 8.05. The company that makes it discourages the use of a wrapper that would convert it to RTAS and they do say in their FAQ that it should not be used in Pro Tools.

So, I have a bit of a dilema. I would love to have a perfect room setting where the monitors could produce a realistic playback but I do not have that and am searching for a plugin (or inexpensive hardware) that will work with Pro Tools.

Could anyone make a few suggestions. I am familiar with "Redline Monitor". Anything else out there?

Thanks!
Dan

Default Re: Mixing with headphones

Redline works pretty well as RTAS. No complaints, but I wouldn't make a regular habit of mixing with headphones, at least not entirely. Even with a good sim, there's still no replacement for real monitors. I use it when I need to do a mix in a noisy environment or when I need to be quiet, but I avoid it whenever possible.

Also, when setting up a virtual monitoring system with headphones, it's good to have a speaker reference to go from. Then you can tweak until it sounds similar to your preferred monitoring, and you have a better idea of how it should sound.
