Problems with Midi I/O firmware update

I have been trying for hours to update the midi I/O firmware (OSX 10.4.8, 003r, PTLE 7.3, G5 2x2.5, 1.5 gig ram). I have a CME UF5 keyboard, and my midi skills are pretty much nonexistent. Any help greatly appreciated.
