Default Is this computer good for PTLE? HD?

Checking this out, do you computer experts think this will work with PTLE? What about HD on PCI? Thanks, it's on sale right now...

No. Dont get anything with a Nvidia Chipset and integrated video.

You would be better off with an Intel chipset and an i7, MUCH better off.

What he said! You are much safer building a system with known working components and intel w/Asus or Gigabyte is a much safer bet.

Thanks, guys. I am poking around looking for a motherboard/cpu combo with at least 3 PCI slots, and this one caught my eye. Any suggestions for a similar system that would work with PT? I normally disable onboard sound and video.

PCI slots are getting pretty rare. Seems everything is going the way of PCI-E these days. What processor do you have your eye on?

I don't really have my eye on anything in particular. I am currently using a dual 3.2 with 2G of RAM, and was looking to see what's out there. A quad processor with a compatible motherboard would probably be a speed upgrade. I don't need bleeding edge because I mix on a console and rarely run out of power with the computer. I also do video editing. I have the PCI 424 card, among other PCI cards, and was also entertaining the thought of PCI PTHD at some point now that they are way down in price.

Look here at the P5Q motherboards with a Q9550 CPU. This will give you a lot more power than you currently have for very low dollars.

That is an immense thread! Starts in 07, and the most recent post likens PC users to gamers. Plus that very popular motherboard only has 2 PCI slots. What I want is an increase in speed, and at least 3 PCI slots. There are 18 million motherboards out there. AMD Phenom is no good? I like the quad 3.2. Is anyone succesfully using a motherboard with 3 PCI slots and a quad?

i know this mobo is bein' used by a DUCer with success right now. question is can you still find it?? if so pick a 775 socket cpu (C2Q) within in your budget and start buildin'... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128084 as you can see the item is deactivated on NEWEGG but some probably can still be found. the other question is... do you want somethin' that so dated at this point'???

here is one more current but untested, as i know it, for PT.... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128406 but this is current technology that will/should have certain architectural advantages over the first. but again...unproven with PT. not a lotta i5 and i7 (1156 socket) results out there yet for PT especially PTHD. hope that helps

EDIT: look what i found!!!
