Default Pt 12 with z690 12th Gen intel CPU - will it work?

Hello I want to upgrade my motherboard and PC to Asus prime z690 and 12700 intel cpu. I noticed that the 12700 has:

# of Performance-cores 8.
# of Efficient-cores 4.
Total Threads 20.

Will Pro tools 12 be able to recognize and utilize all threads?
Thanks

Win 11 manages cores better than Win 10 in general, especially with Intel 12th gen CPUs. Pro Tools, however, is not all that great at spreading the load evenly across all cores. But yeah, Pro Tools will "see" all available cores. Pro Tools and other DAWS are more about single core performance rather than multi-core (like video rendering). Use Pro Tools version 12.5 (or newer) on Win 11 (or 10) and you'll be good. Do all AVID recommended system optimizations. ALL of them.

Also do your homework and search on how to setup ypur computer Bios for performance like a gaming pc. This will help a lot !

Yes! Check for any MB firmware updates & bios updates. You'll need to do adjust 1 or 2 bios settings and you'll be set. It's in the MB manual. For ram optimization, it's just 4 steps & reboot:

I upgraded to z690 asus with 12700 cpu and PT 12 - win 10.
I did everything in the optimization page, but when I disabled turbo boost, the base clock dropped significantly! So I'm going to keep it on for now as I don't see it going anywhere near 25% cpu usage. I'll turn it off if it ever becomes a problem, but for now, everything seems great, PT sees 20 cores! Thanks for the replies

Great! Less than a year ago I upgraded to Z590 Gigabyte with i9-11900K. These builds are super-fast!
