Default Is running 12.7.1 on an M1 Pro MBP possible?

A friend has an older PT licence (12.7.1), and is hoping to run that on a new 16" M1 Pro MBP. I know that Avid qualified 2021.12 + the 2022.2 plugins for this, but can anyone tell me if he is SOL without upgrading to 2021.12? I suspect he may be.

TIA

Considering that version of PT was released 5 years ago, I’d say he’s SOL.

It wouldn’t be supported in current macOS releases, let alone on Apple Silicon architecture. I mean, if he’s buying the computer regardless, he can always try, but even if he gets it to work, I’d not be relying on it if it were me.

Thanks for confirming.

He actually managed to get a sweetheart reinstatement deal so he's going to be current and picking up an M1 Max MacBook Pro to run it on.

Cheers,

Would love to know how he gets on with PT and his new Macbook Pro M1 MAX, same set up as what I am going for.
