Default got my brand new 002R today BUT......

It is slow as all hell. I just got the computer, a Dell.. here are some basic specs:
Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 630 w/HT Technology 3.0GHz,800FSB
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz -2DIMMs
1Tb of dedicated audio drive..

i mean this computer is brand new and it is not fast enough??
I can hardly do anything in pro tools, very sluggish
everything was smooth during installation.. no errors or problems.

my old computer was a 2.0GHz with 500Gb ram running PT 6.7 with a 001, it ran smooth as a babys ass..
same plugins and everything else..

is my new machine really not fast enough???

Did you check if the components in your "Dell" are compatible with protools? You probably would have been better off to build a PC as outlined in the "Best Desktops" sticky thread. Personally, I would never buy a Dell machine to run Protools. Just my opinion.

That's a lot of RAM. You could probably have the whole library of congress in 500GB of RAM. No wonder it ran smooth as a baby's ass. Your new computer only has 1GB.

Okay, all joking aside, try the troubleshooting tip in the sticky thread at the top of the forum.

well.. looking at the frist page of 'best desktops for PTLE under $600' ill go with this:

Aspire X-Dreamer II case with 420W PSU = $59
A8V motherboard for 64X2 processors =$ 135
Athlon 64 4400+ Dual Core Processor = $152
Corsair Dual Channel Ram 1GB = $104

i already have a dual video card, hard drives, dvd/rw

so im only at $450..

at least dell will take my system back, i sold the monitor it came for $130 on ebay, but they say they will credit me $45 less than what I paid if I return the computer without the monitor!!! so im better off on that deal..
